Review: Tropical Traditions Whole Grain Rolled Oats

Whole Grain Rolled Oats – 5 lb. bag

As one of my New Year’s Resolutions, I have been trying to eat a lot healthier. Over the past few years, I have gotten into the habit of eating convenient, prepackaged foods. I am working on getting back into the habit of eating healthier foods in order to feel better. In my opinion, eating healthier foods will make me feel better. I have been given the awesome opportunity to review products for Tropical Traditions. They carry a variety of healthy, organic products. In celebration of National Oatmeal Month, I chose to review the Whole Grain Rolled Oats – 5 lb. bag.

A little info from the Tropical Traditions site:

Oats provide high quality, well-balanced protein. Thick Rolled Oats and other whole grain oats are a good source of soluble fiber. Tropical Traditions Thick Rolled Oats are most commonly used for oatmeal, and cook in about 15 minutes. Thick Rolled Oats can also be used in granola and of course oatmeal cookies.

Now, if you are like me, you are used to using instant oatmeal. In my opinion, instant oatmeal just has no flavor to it but with all of the added flavors, it was tolerable. Enter the oats from Tropical Traditions and you have a whole new taste experience. I decided to make homemade oatmeal cookies for my review. I used an old recipe that has been in my family for quite some time. You can view it in my post: Soft, Chewy Oatmeal Cookie Recipe. I made them with chocolate chips and they were truly scrumptious.

You can purchase Whole Grain Rolled Oats from Tropical Traditions. You can also enter to win a bag for yourself during the Toast to 2012 Giveaway Hop which runs from 01/10/2012 through 01/17/2012.
