Nutrisystem Week 3: Doing Great #NSNation

This has been a really rough week. I actually caved one day and ate a cheeseburger. The bad part is that I could not even taste it because I have been really sick with some type of coughing, hacking sore throat junk. Thankfully, I am feeling better now and sticking to my diet this week. For my third week, I am down 2 more pounds. I am really excited that this is working. I love the fact that, with Nutrisystem, I can eat enough and not feel hungry all of the time and still lose weight.

I am really feeling like I have more energy now even though I have not lost much as of yet. Every pound lost makes me feel better about myself. I am having problems keeping my pants up but have not yet dropped down a size. I am just happy that I can tell a difference. I am definitely looking forward to getting back down to a size 16 again. My favorite pair of jeans is waiting in the closet for me.

Avery Three Ring Binder, Custom Spine Inserts & Note Tabs: Shoplet.com Review

Uncategorized  Comments Off on Avery Three Ring Binder, Custom Spine Inserts & Note Tabs: Shoplet.com Review
Feb 192012

A couple of weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to receive an Avery Heavy Duty Ring Reference Binder, Avery Custom Binder Spine Inserts and Avery Note Tabs from Shoplet.com to review for you, my readers. I was excited to do this review since I am always looking for ways to organize my to-do lists and various other paperwork. I decided to use this one to organize my blog reviews.

004

Upon opening the package, I noticed that the binder was really nice and sturdy. I hate the flimsy ones that don’t have any form to them. When I opened it, I was pleasantly surprised to find that instead of only 2 pockets in which to put paperwork, there were actually FOUR of them! This is a great feature because I always have papers that need to be placed in pockets to be placed in order later. In the past, I would have to purchase separate pages with pockets for these pages. I am also impressed with the one-push opening system for the rings. With the touch of one little tab, it opens right up.

005

Now, figure in the fact that I have several of these types of ring binders already on my shelf. I never know what is in each one. With the addition of the binder label inserts, I can see what each one is for. I now know which one is for coupons, household to-do lists, etc. These are customizable too. You can either use a marker or if you feel like taking a few minutes of time to print it on the computer, it makes it look nice and professional. The binder tabs are used for various things. I use them to note which page I was on previously, where certain things are located, etc. They are very handy little tabs.disclosure-review product

Organize Yourself Online With Clipix

Uncategorized  Comments Off on Organize Yourself Online With Clipix

I found a way to keep things in my life organized-clipix! As many of my friends and family know, I spend a great deal of time online. I have tons of bookmarks in my browser to keep up with sites I like and need to refer back to. My problem is that keeping bookmarks this way is kind of confusing because many times I can’t remember what each page is for. Clipix allows me to “clip” things I find online and put them on my own personal board. I can also add them to folders that I create. Oh, did I mention that you can make them private so only you can see what you clip?

Getting started with clipix is easy. Go to clipix.com and create an account. Add the “clip” button to your toolbar and you are ready to go. It is easy to add the clip button to your toolbar-just drag and drop. Easy peasy!! After you drop your clip button, you are ready to clip away. I am still new to the site but am already thinking that this could be very addicting. I am already planning what boards I might want to create. Here is one of my new boards:

So, what are you waiting for?? Go clip!!

Walgreens Prescription Savings Club Can Save You Money

Uncategorized  Comments Off on Walgreens Prescription Savings Club Can Save You Money
Feb 062012

This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

In looking for ways to save money on my prescriptions, I discovered the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club. For only $35 per year, your immediate family can save on their prescriptions. Immediate family includes your spouse, dependents under age 22 and even your pets. I never would have thought about my pets needing prescription medications. They also have individual plans for only $20 per year.

Some of the advantages of the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club are:

  • Savings on over 8000 brand name medications and ALL generic medications
  • Discounts on flu shots, nebulizers and even diabetic supplies
  • Purchase Walgreens brand products or photofinishing services and you get even more bonuses

I get a total of 3 prescriptions per month and think this is a great way to save money on my medications. I do not have any health insurance and have to pay all of my healthcare costs out of pocket. Lucky for me, my prescriptions are all available in generic form and do not cost much. I always dread going to the doctor when I am sick and I need an expensive medication. The savings from Walgreens would helptremendoucly in cases like that.

Be sure to follow Walgreens on Twitter and also “Like” Walgreens on Facebook to stay updated on everything Walgreens!

If you have been keeping up with me, you know that I started Nutrisystem last weekend on Sunday. I was a little worried at first as to whether I would really like the food. Another worry was that I would feel hungry all of the time. You see, I love food. When I eat a meal, I usually go back for seconds-and sometimes thirds. After reading several other people’s experiences with various diet methods, I was truly worried that I would not like the food and be continuously hungry. I found out that I had nothing to worry about!

Every single food I ate the first week was delicious and filling. Even the chocolate flavored items that others seemed to dislike were tasty. The only issue I had with anything was one of the frozen dinners was a bit too spicy for my liking. My mouth was on fire when I finished eating. Of course, this gave me a reason to drink up some ice cold water to meet my goal for the day. Speaking of water, drinking 2 of the 32oz bottles of water was really hard. I am not a fan of water-AT ALL!! I never drink water. I am a huge Coke Zero fan and can turn a can up and drink it in no time. I really had a hard time choking down 2 bottles of water a day. To be honest, that is the one part of the plan that I really did not stick to very well for the first week.

Now for the results if my first week: 4 pounds gone!! Yep, 4 pounds. I was so excited when I stepped on the scale this morning that I was bouncing all around the house. Silly I know, but I was excited!!

Eating Healthy With Uncle Ben’s Rice #BensBeginners

I love it when my son helps me with meal planning and food preparation. Since he gets to choose the foods, we tend to eat quite a few kid friendly foods. Even though he just turned 5, my son loves to help me cook. He is still learning a lot about why things cook the way they do. It is so cool to him when things like rice and pasta come out soft after cooking. He also loves the way foods taste different with different types of seasonings. I love that he is learning to develop his tastes so early in life. With the abundance of fast food restaurants today, I hope that by teaching him to cook tasty, healthy meals that he will grow up and live a long healthy life.

When I was growing up, my mom always let us help in the kitchen. I used to make chocolate chip cookies on a regular basis for everyone with my own special recipe. Lucky for me, my son tends to eat more fruits, veggies, and healthy foods than he does cookies and sweets. I have always tried to teach him what is healthy and what is not. His school also helps reinforce my teachings. We try to cook with herbs and spices instead of salt based products. Since I have high blood pressure, we have to limit my sodium intake. I love knowing that he can help me cook healthy foods to keep me blood pressure stable. Maybe someday, with his love of cooking, he will be a famous chef or even a doctor!

In our search for good foods, he discovered rice. It has since become one of his favorite foods. It can be cooked in a variety of ways and with the right seasonings can complement quite a variety of foods, whether it be the main course or dessert. Uncle Ben’s is currently running a contest called Ben’s Beginners. They are on the hunt for parents of children ages 5-12 that will submit a video of themselves and their kids working together to prepare a rice-based meal. The prizes include $20,000 cash, an appearance on the Rachael Ray Show, and a $50,000 cafeteria makeover for the winner’s school! You can visit the Uncle Ben’s Facebook page for more information.

I wrote this blog post while participating in the SocialMoms and Uncle Ben’s blogging program, for 6,000 My SocialMoms Rewards Points. For more information on how you can participate, click here.

Good Morning America

Guest post from: Denver Stephens

Ever since we signed up for our television service through Direc4u.com, I have gotten up every day and watched Good Morning America. I use that show for so many different reasons. First I use it to just have some kind of background noise going on while I am getting showered and dressed. I don’t really like it when it is so quiet in the house. Next I use it for know what time it is. I can just walk passed the television and glance in the corner of the screen and the time is always shown there. That way I can tell if I am running late. Now the next reason is a little weird. I always listen for when they go to my local station and give the weather for my area. That way I can decide what I am going to wear based on what the weather report is forecasting. Then they always give some kind of traffic report in the middle of the program from my local station so I can tell if I need to hurry and get out the door or if it is just going to be a regular ride in to work. Of course there is also some current issue that they talk about on the program that keeps me informed on the world outside my house. Who knew that one television program could be so informative?

I just got a different vehicle to drive and am looking for ways to keep it neat and organized. My poor little truck that I am now selling was always in sad shape. I finally decided the little truck was too small (I am 6 foot tall), so I decided I wanted something bigger. After quite a bit of research, I chose a 2004Tahoe. I love the extra room but having an almost 5 year old and his toys, snacks, movies, etc can be a mess-a BIG mess!!

I never found a way to get the truck organized. It was a GMC Canyon crew cab. Even with 4 doors, it was too small and always a total mess. I have seen tons of organizer products at the store and online but am not sure what I really need. This is where you come in. How do you keep things clean and organized? I really need some advice on this!

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up

Uncategorized  Comments Off on What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up

When I was younger, everyone always asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. Being the young, inexperienced person I was, I got married when I was 20 instead of going to college. I ended up divorced less than 2 years later and had no education under my belt. By then, I was working at a convenience store as a cashier. I was not making enough doing that job so I decided to get another job. I ended up working two full time jobs. I was making good money but was working ALL of the time. I had a roommate at the time that loved careers in automotive industries. She was making a great living and only had one job. Things change of course, she ended up moving out and I moved off to another town and got married again.

Here I am 20-something years later and I still have no education. Lucky for me, I discovered blogging. Of course, I am not making a full time income but I have a roof over my head and I feed my family. At this point in time, I would have to say that I want to be a professional blogger when I grow up.

What do you wanna be when you grow up?

Ever since I started blogging, I have totally lost all of my organizational skills. I used to keep things around my house totally immaculate. You could have eaten off of my floors. I want to get things back in order but have no clue where to even start. My living room is a disaster-full of toys, papers, magazines, etc. My office is full of even more “stuff”. I do have all of my review items and projects organized for the most part. I have little notebooks everywhere so when a blog post comes to mind, I can jot it down.

Are you a blogger? How do you keep things organized? What tips do you have to share? I am so totally lost right now. I need all of the help I can get. The mess is totally stressing me out. Of course it is all up to me to keep things straightened out. It isn’t just the blogging either. I even have an old TV sitting in the floor of my den, along with a home subwoofer that I need to put to use. What to do, what to do!!
