Paul The Male Matchmaker #SP

Have you watched “Paul The Male Matchmaker”? If you haven’t, then you really need to. It is really funny. I have watched quite a few “dating” shows over the years. Some have been pretty ho-hum but Paul The Male Matchmaker really struck my funny bone.

53cd2cc634_paul_the_male_matchmaker_huluWhen Paul inherits a matchmaking company from his Aunt Cathy, he wonders what his aunt could have possibly been thinking. But he soon realizes it makes perfect sense: by his own estimation, Paul is very attractive, super-likable and a really happy person — and he’s got a fantastic marriage to a very wealthy woman, Teri. Although Paul’s confident that he is the perfect person to help women find love, his approach is going to be a little different from that of his Aunt Cathy. His no-holds-barred philosophy toward dating can be surprising and frustrating to the women he is helping, but no matter how hilarious it may appear, his focus is always on being brutally honest with his clients

In episode 3 of season 1, Jillian (played by Lisa Edelstein) seeks out Paul’s advice on how to get back into the dating world after being in a 4 year relationship with her ex boyfriend. Jillian gets matched up with a ‘dummy’ for a date. Of course, hilarity ensues.

Back in the day, I had a few friends that tried to set me up. One in particular was set up by my friend, Shari. We met these 2 young men down at the beach. Now, keep in mind that I wear glasses because I am extremely nearsighted.  This particular day, I decided to take my glasses off to go for a swim. Our dates decided to show up while we were out in the water. Of course, without my glasses, I could not see them very well. I ended up agreeing to a date with this guy. Once I out my glasses on, I realized that I had made a BIG mistake. The guy was a total dork and definitely NOT my type. I ended up feigning being sick to get out of the date. Have you ever been set up with someone that was totally not your type?

Treasure-BuddiesTo celebrate the recent release of Disney’s Treasure Buddies, Mia’s Musings will be giving away a DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack of Treasure Buddies for one lucky winner. We received a copy for review and absolutely loved it! My son watched it over and over and over. We really enjoyed it. We finally made the plunge for a blu-ray player so we could watch the blu-ray copy. I love the fact that the blu-ray has bonus features. The bonuses are always fun!

Treasure Buddies Bonus Features:

  • DIGS: B-Dawg Edition – In this fun bonus feature, B-Dawg the hip hop happening pup gives a tour of his home to kid reporter G.
  • “Roam” Music Video – A re-make of The B-52s song performed by Caroline Sunshine, Kenton Duty and Adam Irigoyen from the cast of the Disney Channel hit series “Shake it Up.”

This is a very cute movie. I am a fan of all things “Buddy”. We have almost all of the buddy movies and my son watches them quite often. We have a DVD player in our car so he can watch movies on his way to school.

The Buddies are off on an all new adventure, and this time their journey takes them all the way to the ruins of ancient Egypt where, with the help of some new friends, including Digger the Archeologist dog, Cammy, a baby camel, and a mischievous monkey named Babi, they’ll explore mysterious tombs, dodge treacherous booby traps, and race against a devious cat in search of the greatest treasure known to animalkind, the lost collar of Cleocatra.

Real Steel: A Review

TV/Movies  Comments Off on Real Steel: A Review
Feb 022012

RealSteelThreeDiscBlurayCombo sm2Balancing gritty action and emotional heart, “Real Steel” is an inspiring and visually stunning film that takes audiences on an action-packed journey. Washed-up boxer Charlie Kenton (Hugh Jackman) scrapes by as a small-time robot-fight promoter as he tries to make a comeback. Against all odds he eventually succeeds—at least in the eyes of his son Max (Dakota Goyo). “Real Steel” is spectacular family entertainment that will have everyone cheering again and again.

I finally got a chance to sit down and watch Real Steel. WOW! I love it. Of course, having Hugh Jackman in the movie really suckered me in. I am not normally a fan of robots and futuristic type movies. I am really glad I decided to watch this one.

The beginning of Real Steel features a robot boxing match in a rodeo arena. Being from Texas, I expected to see a rodeo since it was in the rodeo arena. It was pretty awesome to see the robots come into the arena to box. Reading the information on the movie, I expected a mainly “man” type action movie. I soon realized that the movie actually had a good storyline. It is not all about the fighting. It also centers on the relationship between Charlie and Max.

With boxing robots as part of the story, you would expect to see a lot of action. Real Steel is far from being your typical action movie. The story line, as mentioned above, focuses more on the father-son relationship. Being a movie geared toward men, I was pleasantly surprised that it had the sentimental side to it. Charlie and Max are working on building their estranged relationship. The robot boxing adds to the strife between father and son. They can’t seem to agree on much of anything.

The movie will also make you wonder if Atom (the robot) actually has a soul. I know, a robot has no soul, but the movie makes you wonder! If you have not been able to catch the action of Real Steel, it is now available on DVD/blu-ray. Be sure to get your copy today. I really think you will love the movie! One great thing about the DVD/Blu-ray edition is the bonuses! These are the bonuses I received with the 2 disc copy I received for review:

  • 2-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack (1 Blu-ray Disc + 1 DVD)
  • Countdown to the Fight—The Charlie Kenton Story
  • Sugar Ray Leonard: Cornerman’s Champ
  • Deleted and Extended Scenes with introductions by Shawn Levy
    —Extended “Meet Ambush”
    —Deleted “Butterfly” Storyline
  • Making of Metal Valley
  • Building the Bots
  • Bloopers

What are your favorite bonuses on movies?  My favorite bonus has always been the blooper scenes. I can always use a good laugh, especially if it is a pretty intense movie. Real Steel also has the Second Screen bonus. I have not tried it out yet but plan to give it a try here in the next few days. It sounds like it might be fun.
