escapesI was fortunate enough to receive a copy of Jeff Gold’s CD “Escapes” to review. I have always had a penchant for soft relaxing music and was looking forward to listening to Jeff’s music. I had already read several reviews that were very positive and could not wait to hear it for myself. I have been having a really hard time here lately and needed something to help me relax.

I am usually pretty stressed for the most part. I have problems with high blood pressure and am 45 with an almost 5 year old. It can really hard to relax sometimes. I try to do what I can but it is kind of difficult with an injured back and a leg that hurts all of the time. Not to mention the tooth pain that I have been suffering from for the past several months. I had the two offending teeth pulled yesterday, so that should be taken care of, I hope. Anyway, I have been listening to Escapes on a regular basis and I really feel calmer and more relaxed. I know my son appreciates it because he senses when I am irritable and when I am not. Lucky for me, my son is a good kid and knows when I need a break.

There have also been numerous parents touting the effects of the music on their special-needs children. They said it seems to calm the children down when they start getting agitated. If you have a special needs child, this may be something that could help you and your child relax.

If you are interested in purchasing Jeff’s Music, you can purchase it at Jeff Gold’s website or at Amazon-OR, if you head over to the Winner Wonderland Giveaway event for your chance to win.

When I was given the chance to review Diary of a Beverly Hills Matchmaker by Marla Martenson, I was really intrigued. Once I got the book, I could not wait to read it. From the moment I picked it up, I was hooked. I read it through in one day.

Diary of a Beverly Hills Matchmaker shows glimpses of a society where many of us just dream about. Seeing celebrities out and about is nothing unusual. Limos, Botox, designer clothing, and dining at exclusive restaurants are nothing unusual in Beverly Hills.

The stories Marla tells about the matchmaking clients will really have you laughing. I mean, seriously, these guys all want perfect 10’s and the girls all want someone to spend money on them and spoil them rotten. One woman had the gall to insist that her “date” buy her a $1200 purse. Wow, if I had $1200, I could pay my bills and eat for the next month. There was even one woman who purposely got pregnant. Reading all of these stories intertwined with the rest of the goings on in Marla’s life had me buried in the book for the better part of the day.

I absolutely loved this book. It is one of those books that makes you realize that there is a whole other world out there, full of a whole different class of people. The book is well-written and fun. I truly think you will enjoy this book as much as I did.

You can purchase this book on Amazon or you can enter to win it in the Winner Wonderland Giveaway.

Plasma Car Review and Giveaway

I was totally excited to be able to review the Plasma Car from Plasmart. I pulled it out of the box and within a few minutes, it was ready to go. I had to do a little story-telling though. I am giving it to him for Christmas and in order to do the review, I had to get him to ride it so I could actually do a review. I told him that it was a gift for his little nephew and that I wanted him to ride it to see if it was something Madixx would like it. Lucky for me, he rode it and was okay with it when we put it up. He did say that he wanted one from Santa though. I was worried about how I was going to do the review but it went great.

047

When he got on it, he rode in circles through the house until he could not go anymore. He told me that he thought Madixx would like it. He rode it a few more times and then I put it away (for now). I think he will be really excited to get it under the tree. As you can see in the photo below, he was a blur from having so much fun riding it.051

The Plasma car will support riders up to 220pounds on a smooth surface and 120 on a rough surface. Unfortunately for me, I exceed the weight limit by a few pounds and won’t get to try it until I lose a few. You can get your own Plasma Car at Amazon or you can locate a retailer near you by visiting PlasmaCar.com OR you can enter to win one during the Turkey Hunt Giveaway Hop.

I was given the Plasma Car free of charge by Plasmart to review. All opinions are 100% my own. I received no other compensation for this post.

Anyone that knows me, knows that I love to read. I bought a Kindle a couple of years ago so I could carry it with me to read on the go. Since my son was born 4 (almost 5) years ago, I have not read as much as I used to. Since school started this year, I have been able to read a few books. One of these books was Craved by Stephanie Nelson.

The reviews will be based on either actual product experience, from friends that have tried them out, or from other product reviews that we were able to locate online. We will state in each review whether it was an actual experience, a friend’s experience or web based review.

If you have any questions about any review done on our site, please let me know and we will be glad to help you out as best we can.

Wubbzy And The Fire Engine DVD Review & Giveaway

Giveaways, Reviews  Comments Off on Wubbzy And The Fire Engine DVD Review & Giveaway

My son was ecstatic when he found out we were going to get the Wubbzy And The Fire Engine DVD. He is an avid Wubbzy fan and keeps telling me he wants to be a fireman when he grows up. Next week, in honor of National Fire Prevention Week, there will be a fireman bringing a fire truck to his school for all of the children to see. In conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week, we are hosting a giveaway of the Wubbzy And The Fire Engine DVD. The giveaway runs until October the 10th and you can enter by visiting the Trick or Treat Giveaway post.

When we received the DVD, Caden could not wait to open it and watch it. He kept telling me to look at the fire truck. He was even more excited to find out that there were several episodes of Wubbzy on the DVD. He got to watch What Would Wubbzy Do?, Ty Ty The Tool Guy(with Ty Pennington), Mr. Unlucky, Wuzzleburg Express, and Hangin’ With Mr. Gummy. I think we have watched this DVD about 30 times already (if not more). We were also able to use the DVD in the computer and printed the coloring and activity sheets for him to do. He had fun with them but refused to let me take his picture while he was coloring. LOL!

I am glad he likes to watch educational shows like Wubbzy. In each episode, there is a learning experience about helping others, treating others with respect and learning right from wrong, along with other life lessons that are important to me. In Ty Ty The Tool Guy, he helps build a house and in Wubbzy And The Fire Engine, he learns how to not play with a real fire engine. My view on this DVD is an A+. Caden truly enjoys it and I am sure we will get to watch it many times. We watch together and I talk to him about the things he is learning. Watching these types of shows is great time to spend with your child teaching them about different things.

If you are looking to purchase Wubbzy & The Fire Engine, or any of the Wubbzy DVD’s, you can find them on Amazon or at your favorite retailer.

I received the product for my honest review, all opinions are 100% my own and no other compensation was nor will be received. The review is from my own personal experience, your experience may vary.

For this review, I was given a copy of System Mechanic to try. Now, I have always been leary of using any type of software on my computers that alter any of the registries or any other technical stuff. My nephew, who was a computer guru, always told me that they were, in his words-“crap”. My nephew passed away several months ago and I really needed to fix my old dinosaur of a desktop, so I figured it would be worth a shot to at least try some type of program to clean things up. My desktop is a 2005 model with, I think, only 512MB RAM. Yep, it is slllooowwww. I have tried several times over the years to restore it to it’s original state, but have failed miserably. This is why I was totally excited to try System Mechanic, even though I was leary.

The first thing I did when I got the program was to install it and do the necessary repairs. I wish I would have done screenshots of the results. My computer was in sad, sad shape. It showed several HUNDRED errors! If I am remembering correctly, it was around 800 or so. Yep, absolutely pitiful! No wonder the computer was slow as molasses. My 4 year old loves to play games and he uses that computer. His games kept shutting off for no reason and the characters would freeze, along with a myriad of other issues. After running System Mechanic, I repaired all of the errors as it suggested. Wow, what a difference! My sweet little man can now play his games without worrying about it freezing up on him. It is still slow because of the small amount of RAM, but the difference is definitely noticable.

My overall experience with System Mechanic is a VERY positive one. I am no longer leary of using a program such as System Mechanic to fix my computer. I did do some research before deciding to accept the product to review. CNet gives System Mechanic rave reviews, as do several other trustworthy tech sites. These reviews are what convinced me to give it a try. I am truly glad I decided to use the software. It has made a world of difference on my desktop computer. Did I mention that you can use this on more than one computer?? I have several laptops laying around here that I plan to get cleaned up when I get a chance to do them. I will make another post when I get them done to let you know how it goes with them.

Now for the good stuff! We are having a Trick or Treat Giveaway that runs until October 10th and you can win your very own copy of System Mechanic along with a one year activation code!!

I received the product for my honest review, all opinions are 100% my own and no other compensation was nor will be received. The review is from my own personal experience, your experience may vary.

A few weeks ago, I was sent some flipflop wines to review. I received Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio and a Reisling. Nothing beats a good glass of wine and in my opinion, these were awesome!

 FlipFlop_Dev13

Now, if you have ever shopped for wine, you have probably noticed that wine labels leave a lot to be desired when it comes to serving suggestions. Not so with flipflop wines. Fortunately for me, there is a nice label on these that gives serving suggestions as well as the best way to store it. I love a good wine-and I love it even more if I know what to serve it with. The cheat-sheet labels were a real help for this novice wine connoisseur. The label includes:

  • Vintage: (year)
  • Appellation: (geographical information)
  • Tastes like: (gives a description of taste)
  • It is full of: (adds to “Tastes like”)
  • Eat with: (suggests food pairings)
  • Serve: (temperature best served)
  • Store: (tells best way to store, ie. away from direct sunlight)
  • Scale: (tells where the wine rates between dry and sweet)

The first one I tried was the Pinot Noir. According to the label, it would be good with chocolate chip cookies. Now, chocolate chip cookies happen to be my favorite cookies ever-but only if I make them from the recipe I have had for over 20 years. With recipe in hand, I dug out the ingredients and made some fresh-baked cookies. Nothing beats a fresh cookie right out of the oven and having a glass of wine with my favorite, fresh-out-of-the-oven cookies? Absolutely scrumptious! This was definitely a good idea. I would have never thought to drink wine with my chocolate chip cookies.

Next up was the Reisling. One of the suggestions on the bottle was pork tacos. Now, I have never had pork tacos, so I decided to make them to have with the wine. I am all about the power of suggestion and this one was right on. We love the tacos and the Reisling just topped off a perfect meal. it was really sweet and had a hint of fruit flavor to it. Yummo!

A couple of days later, I decided to try the Pinot Grigio with the suggested eggplant parmesan. I was a little iffy on it since it was a little drier than I like, but my dinner guests loved it. Over all, it was a big hit.

At a suggested price of only $7 a bottle, the flipflop wines are a definite value. They are very tasty and my friends and I had a great time trying them out. Another aspect I love about flipflop wines is that they are partnered with the Soles for Souls program. This partnership aims to provide shoes for those less fortunate. The goal for 2011 is to provide 11 million pairs of shoes for those in need.

I received 3 bottles of wine to review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are mine.
