Manners and respect. That’s what I learned from my mom and that’s what I taught to my children.
My mother taught me how to be thrift and now as a mom I appreciated that I can find thrift store clothes for my kids that they can grow out of the next day and won’t cost me a fortune!

My mom taught me to be a hey patient mom. She had 8 kids, plus working 2 jobs, taking care of the home and dealing with a hateful husband so she had to have the patients of Job. And I often hear that about myself. I also learned by watching what she went through to find a good man that would always be by my side and not to let a man run over me. I’m thankful my husband is that good man and helps in many ways even when he works 60 hours a week.. And he is a amazing father, so he helps me be a amazing mom.

My mother always made us respect our elders and people in authority. It helped me more than once along the way – and it’s just plain good manners. My mother was extremely big on manners, at home, at the table, any kind of manners.
That no matter how your kids treat you always love them. Don’t have grudges!!!
I learned from my mom not to judge people by their class or status in life
I learned to sew and that skill allowed me to make diapers for several very poor children. I made all the diapers that for 4 children for about $150 and my adopted son and several of his friends benefited from this skill
My mom always put my sister and I first, no matter what. I now do that with my 4 children and they know, without a doubt, that I will always be here for them. That extra bit of security has enabled my children to stretch themselves out and try new things, knowing that I will be there to pick them up if they fall.
